Applying To Brookdale

All new students  - whether interested in a single course or full-time study - must submit a completed Brookdale application form to the Office of Admissions. There is a non-refundable $25 application fee.

ONLINE ADMISSION NOW AVAILABLE!

If you have previously applied to Brookdale Community College it is unnecessary to submit another application.  The $25 application fee is a non-refundable fee.


You may also apply in person
by visiting our main campus in Lincroft (at the Center for Counseling, Admissions and Registration, CAR, Parking Lot 5) or stop into one of our Higher Education Centers throughout Monmouth County.

Applicants may enter any Brookdale program of study - with the exception of the Health Sciences programs (Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, and Radiologic Technology) and the Automotive Technology programs ASEP and T-TEN. These require an additional step - contact the Admissions office for complete details.

On your application you will be asked whether you will be a degree student (matriculated) or non degree student.  

All degree students must take the Basic Skills test to determine ability to do college level work.

All full time students must have health insurance. You may purchase Brookdale`s low cost plan, or file a waiver indicating coverage you already have.

Residency Definitions
Monmouth County Resident - Brookdale admissions priority is given to Monmouth County residents. (Armed Forces personnel and their dependents stationed in the County are considered Monmouth County residents.)

Evidence of residency includes:

  • Copies of your NJ income tax return, or evidence of withholding of NJ tax
  • Parents` or guardians` NJ taxes paid
  • Evidence of ownership, or long term lease on permanent residence in NJ (student or parent/guardian)

Supplementary evidence of NJ domicile may include

  • NJ drivers` license or vehicle registation
  • NJ voter registration card
  • Sworn and notarized statement from parent/ guardian declaring domicile

Residency Definitions

Monmouth County Resident - A person with a permanent Monmouth County address who has lived in New Jersey for at least one year prior to the first day of instruction. Admission priority is given to Monmouth County residents. Armed Forces personnel and their dependents stationed in the county are considered Monmouth County residents.

Out-of-County Resident - A resident of a county other than Monmouth, who has lived in New Jersey for at least one year prior to the first day of instruction. The tuition rate as well as the maximum amount per term is double that for Monmouth County residents. However, if you attend  Brookdale because your county does not have a community college, or because the community college does not offer the program you wish to pursue, you may be eligible for full or partial “charge back”, a system by which you pay in-county tuition rates. Contact Brookdale’s Admissions Office or the Admissions Office of your local community college.

Out-of-State Resident - A person who has not lived in New Jersey for at least one year prior to the first day of instruction. The tuition rate as well as the maximum amount per term is double that for out-of-county residents.

Out-of-Country Resident - A person in the United States for purposes other than that of establishing permanent residence, with non-immigrant status as deigned by the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service. Persons in this category may need to file an I-20 student visa form. Check with the Admissions Office for regulation guidelines. Tuition rate as well as the maximum amount per term is double that for out-of-county residents.
