DIVERSITY COUNCIL

 

The Diversity Council is charged with reviewing and recommending College policies and practices concerning diversity. The Committee will advise the College community on strategies for maintaining an environment that is open, diverse, and inclusive, both intellectually and organizationally. In addition, the Committee will plan and implement activities and programs to assist the College in achieving its commitment to diversity in the classroom, the workplace and the entire College environment.

2008-2009 CHARGE TO DIVERSITY COUNCIL:

 

IMPLEMENTATION OF THE DIVERSITY COUNCIL REPORT INITIATIVES

 

The Committee should:

 

  1. Prioritize the six target areas addressed in the Diversity Council Report to Brookdale Community College, 1/17/2008. (See explanation);
  2. Structure, define and charge appropriate sub-committees to facilitate the implementation of the Diversity Council Report;
  3. Begin the implementation of select preliminary initiatives/actions connected to the six target areas by January 2009.

 

MEETING SCHEDULE 2008 – 2009

Ø      Diversity Council generally meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month from 11:45 am – 1:15 pm in MAC 212.

Ø      Specific 2008-2009 scheduled dates are as follows: 9/9, 9/23, 10/7, 10/21, 10/28, 11/18, 12/2, 12/16, 1/27, 2/10, 2/24, 3/3, 3/24, 4/7 and 4/21.

Ø      Check back at the beginning of the 2009-2010 academic year for the History of Diversity Council Charges and Recommendations from 2008-2009 – present.
