Library Research Award  

Selection Criteria

The required process essay describing your 1) research strategies, 2) source evaluation and selection techniques, and 3) personal learning about the research process/growth as a scholar will be given the most weight in the judging process. This essay should be at least 750 words.

The details described in the process essay should be reflected in the final paper/project.

The selection committee will consider the range and quality of the sources on the bibliography, as well as the synthesis and integration of research material into the paper or project.

Submissions will be judged based on how well they demonstrate the specific criteria outlined in the Evaluation Rubric.

Essay Tips

  • Look at the evaluation rubric, which includes the criteria on which the projects will be evaluated, before you draft your process essay.
  • Consider the bulleted items on the rubric as starting points for your process essay.
  • Include specific details where possible/appropriate to elucidate your process and demonstrate your claims.
