Notes: "When fully implemented over the next three years, InfoCommons technology will employ a variety of configurations and computing capacity including stationary desk top work stations like those found in University Computing Labs (UCL’s), portable notebook type computers and specialized computers capable of producing multimedia content.
To support optimal Internet access, the Hale Library building network will be upgraded and wireless network infrastructure will be implemented. In its initial configuration the InfoCommons will include approximately 100 workstations of various types including both stationary and portable models. This number may expand in later phases pending evaluation of user demand and available funding. Software applications and operating systems available on this equipment will be identical to that currently offered in CNS-operated UCL’s elsewhere on campus. Laser printing will be provided through debit card-operated pay-for-printing services.
Maintenance and technical support of InfoCommons technology will be provided by CNS computing lab support staff.
Library reference staff will continue to assist patrons with their needs in finding and interpreting print and electronic information resources. Reference centers are located on the Library’s First through Third floors. In addition computer applications support staff, working from the Second floor Reference Desk, will assist users with software-related questions. When implemented, the specialized computing production area will also be staffed to assist users with the software and equipment provided there. "
