Using Your Laptop in the Library

The Bankier Library offers wireless access (aka "hot spots" and "WiFi") for currently enrolled students, faculty, staff, and community patrons with library privileges to use with their personal notebooks, laptops and other mobile devices to connect to the College network. Use of the wireless access service is governed by the College Regulation 2.9000R "Computer Resource, Network and Facilities Use", the Library Code of Conduct and the Student Conduct Code.

The library provides several options for Internet access, follow the appropriate procedure to connect to the College network:

  • Wireless connection using BlueSocket
  • Standard network port connection

We have a limited number of PC laptop computers available for use within the library, on a first-come, first-served basis. Come to the Circulation Desk to check out a laptop. The Laptop Loan is only available to current Brookdale students.

Questions? Contact the Library Learning Assistant at the Information Commons Help Desk: 732/224-2443

Wireless Connection using BlueSocket

Wireless laptops will find the network connection automatically and the browser will open to the BlueSocket login page. In the event you do not see the BlueSocket login page, the web browser will display three links; click on the link that says "Connect to this page anyway". At the log-in screen, enter your user name and password.

  • For students: your user name is your assigned Brookdale email address, which is the part that comes before the @ symbol. Your password is your initial email password. Even if you have changed your password, you wireless password will not change and will remain the initial email password you were assigned.
  • For community patrons: your user name is your 14-digit library barcode number. Your password is your last name. The guest wireless network does not provide access to databases and other e-resources licensed by the Bankier Library.
