The Birds of Midway Island
Midway Atoll is known for its huge
colony of Laysan albatross, which is the largest in the world.
Although there is not a great variety of species found here (Compared
to a rainforest, for example),
it is the nesting site for almost 2 million sea birds and a stopover
for a variety of other migrants.
Also found here are the endangered
Hawaiian Monk seals, green sea turtles and spinner dolphins.
