MEN'S TENNIS 2006
Recap 2005
In 2005 the Jersey Blues Men’s Tennis team had a 7-3 record after coming off 5 consecutive seasons which included a 50 match winning streak. Those campaigns included 3 National Invitational Tournament Championships, 2 Team National Runners-up, 5 individual National Champions, 12 individual National Finalists and produced 25 All-American Designations and 5 consecutive team Regional Championships.
Overview 2006
After the 2005 rebuilding year, the Jersey Blues look strong with 2nd year players Steve Alberino and Branden Breza, both 2005 Regional Finalists and Regional Semi-Finalist Billy Dannevig. These second year players are all much improved and should pave the way for excellent 2006 results. Freshmen Tom Powers out of CBA is an excellent addition to the squad with a solid all round game. Unlike 2005 when the team had a shortage of players, this year the team has a group of newcomers, all excellent players, fighting for a just a few starting positions. They are: Andres Toledo, Equidor; Dave Rosenblum, West Long Branch; Pete Wilkins, Keansburg; Brian Magda, Howell; Jamie Furlong, Middletown; Pete Monroy, Marlboro; and Alex Osmanass, also of Marlboro.
This is a competitive, hard working group of guys who are great to work with. With continued hard work and dedication, the 2006 should produce results no less than comparable to the 2000-2005 campaigns.
