Welcome to Dave's Brain
More than a few women have tried to figure out just what's going on in Dave's brain.
Let's try our luck and take a tour.

(Below, left) Neanderthal skull? Egyptian dummy? Iceman of the Alps?...
No...it's just an MRI map for the following slices of Dave's brain.
Is Dave HOT like they say?

(Above right) Not much going on here when viewed from the top. Some wear-and-tear from a lot of head-scratching and attempts at problem-solving.

(Right) From the back: Nothing unusual here, although he has been called a pain in the neck by a few college administrators.

(Below right) Apparently a little lopsided in his brain, as well as his thinking. Perhaps it's too many hits with surfboards.

(Below) Plenty of grey matter, but is it being used... is he day-dreaming about the beach...or is it just the classic (male) test pattern being viewed?

Medical diagnosis: "The curious resemblance to Homer Simpson's brain is probably coincidental, but it helps us conclude that, like with most men's brains, we could get a great price selling it on Ebay....it's hardly been used!"

(Above) Students trying to contain their excitement
while comparing the dolphin skull to a human skull as we study anatomy and the physiology
of scuba diving.

Some Comparative Anatomy
The dolphin skull has a longer snout than Dave and is more streamlined for moving through the water, but except for the placement on the spine, and the anterior alignment for swimming, it is similar in many ways to a human skull.

(Left) The bottom of the skull reveals the palate (or roof of the mouth) and eye sockets, and many more teeth on the upper jaw than a human skull.

There are many similarities between dolphins and humans. The nasal passages in the center are placed in the same region, except humans breathe down through the nose and dolphins breathe up through a blow-hole.

If you arch your head back to look at the ceiling, your skull is aligned like the dolphin's on the top of its spine. (If you are at work right now, pretend you are also yawning and stretching your arms or your co-workers might think there is something physically wrong or you are bored with your job.)

A model of a dolphin perched on the skull helps demonstrate the fish-like shape of the dolphin that allows it to be one of the fastest and most graceful creatures in the sea.
