Notice regarding emails:
Dave Grant does not do the confirming or billing for your field trip to Sandy Hook.
That is a job performed at the main office at the main campus at the college and because of this requests must be handled by mail. Please do not call us about scheduling a program. Read our simple scheduling procedures, check our web-calendar for available dates, and our teacher checklist, then send your written request. Send all requests by regular mail, in a business envelope (Not Express, Overnight, or in an oversize envelope, or anything we have to sign for, etc. It's a small P.O. Box) to: BCC
Ocean Institute, Box 533, Sandy Hook, NJ 07732Note: If you email us, please put your school name and date you are coming in the "SUBJECT" line, especially if you have a whimsical, numerical, punctuated, anatomical or suggestive email address (You know what we mean!), or we might not open your email. We do not schedule by email or over the phone. Please see mail instructions above.
If you have read and understand the above, you now are encouraged* to click HERE to email Dave. *Please feel free to send us information on things you find at the shore or observations you have made and if we cannot answer your question, we will post that question or information for others. The lab phone number at Sandy Hook is (732) 872-2284, however, we often times cannot answer the phone when students are in the classroom and you will most likely get a message directing you to phone mail or the information line. Also, and this is very important, we do not schedule programs over the phone. Programs are scheduled only by mail through the Main Campus, so please do not call us at Sandy Hook regarding scheduling, confirmations or billing. If you have a question, the easiest way to get a quick response is by email.
Please feel free to call us regarding other matters (732-224-2435) unusual sightings at the beach, or to try and touch base with us on the morning of your scheduled trip (732-872-2284) especially if you have bus problems or some other emergency that will delay your arrival at Sandy Hook.
If you have questions for Dave that have nothing to do with confirming or billing for your field trip, you may email him from this page. He will not be able to respond to questions concerning confirmation or billing matters, but will pass them on to the appropriate office at the college.
Note: Students, teachers and mothers. Save us both some time and embarrassment:
We'll be happy to answer questions about the beach, marine biology, oceanography and any other topic; however, we will not respond to messages from all 35 of your students, like: "Could you please tell me everything there is to know about the ocean?" or "My child has a report due tomorrow on careers, what does a marine biologist do in a day?"
