White or fairy terns are perhaps the most tame of the seabirds. They build no nest and will lay their single egg on a tree branch or other precarious perch. |

They are particularly curious of people and easy to photograph as they hover near you. They fish close to shore for Hawaiian anchovies to feed their single chick. |
